But I think I like the Reliant Scimitar.

I love it. Like a really weird Volvo 480 that got punched in the face, which is weird to begin with

Princess Anne has one, you know.

C'mon man it's staring you in the face. You lust after it because it is the great taboo of the car industry, a shooting brake. Most people don't get it, but I do, you do and so does 505Turbeaux, we can't let the secret get out lest we be judged for our sordid sports wagon fetish. A time will come when the public will allow the brake and not persecute us for it, but it's not now, I just hope it's within our lifetime.
Stay safe, fellow brake enthusiast.

It looks like a road runner shooting brake, that's why!

Given that the lights are from a Capri, it's not that much of an exaggeration to say that it is a Capri Shooting-Brake or Wagon.

For some reason it reminds me of an early Civic. Like this one.

Not the same lights (the Scimitar's are asymmetrical) . They did share an engine though, the 3 litre V6.

Beat me to it.

Because it's a classy, luxurious shooting brake? What's not to like?
Also, the Princess Royal had one, you know.

Because they're kickass is why :)
Lightweight front-mid engined (for 50/50 distribution) 3.0l manual RWD sports car shooting brake. What's not to like? And the running gear was fairly standard across tons of other cars over a number of years, so parts should be very easy to come by.
Oh, and if that's not enough motivation, there's space in the front for a V8. Plenty of space ;)
Personally, I like the SE5a just for looks, although the SE6 as you've pictured has a galvanised chassis so rot should be pretty much nonexistent :)

O.K. maybe not the same lights but the metal plate that holds them is interchangeable, although probably nobody puts the part from a Scimitar on a Capri.
